The past couple of weeks I have not had a chance to write, and I can feel the void it’s left! I was sick with what I thought was just allergies but turned out to be a throat infection. And when you deal with autoimmunity, it seems to take forever to get over sickness. It feels good to be back into a regular rhythm!
For a long time, this blog laid dormant, not because I didn’t have anything to say, but because I had TOO MUCH to say and felt that I should narrow down my thoughts to one topic as a way to brand myself.
Was I a lifestyle blogger? A creative type? Do I dabble in fashion, or should I focus on health and fitness? Am I vegan enough to have a voice in that particular space? Do I have enough authority to speak on worship ministry?
Maybe you can relate? I feel like there’s this growing trend, which is especially reinforced through carefully curated Instagram feeds, that it’s not enough to have a message. You have to have a brand, a focus, a look, in order to reach people. And for crying out loud, what’s with all the white walls and dreamcatchers???
But I have finally gotten to the point where none of that really matters to me anymore. I like to think that we’re not all just one-dimensional. I’m an almost 35-year-old wife and homeschooling mom of three, a worship leader and musician with a heart to develop other worship leaders and musicians, a health enthusiast who’ll try anything else before taking medicine, and a minimalist who’d be content to live with my family of five in a vintage Airstream for the rest of my life. Recently diagnosed with lupus, I have found myself enthralled with nontoxic living and clean eating, but I’m still learning and have a looong way to go.
So I thought it was time to let you all know what you can expect from this space. Over the past several years, the Lord has taken me on a journey of living simply and intentionally, and that has changed every aspect of my life—from my health, to my home and homeschool, to my marriage and parenting approach, to ministry and relationships, to creative endeavors. Here, you will find a little bit of everything I love:
- recipes and tips for simple, healthy meal planning
- my experience with holistic approaches to health while battling lupus
- nontoxic products I love
- taking a simple approach to home management and how to make minimalism work for your lifestyle
- musings and things I’ve learned about worship ministry, and how to grow spiritually
- parenting anecdotes and experience
If there is anything within these topics that you’d like me to address, please reach out! I’d love to share my experience and provide whatever guidance I can.
And if you’re like me, and you have a dream or a passion project that you don’t know how to approach, let me encourage you to just start. Just start creating, start writing, start building that business. Just start putting yourself out there. I think in the world of fashion flat-lays and fiddle leaf fig trees, there are still those who long for authenticity, connection, and individuality. Who cares if it's not perfect? Let your goal be presence, not perfection. You have something to offer this world that is uniquely you, and it may not be just one thing. Put it out there! Focus on blessing others rather than branding yourself, and you cannot go wrong!
